New Life!

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

As this day begins, center our hearts on the truth of Your resurrection power. Awaken us to the reality that Jesus is alive—not as history, but as present truth. Let this truth shape how we think, how we walk, and how we follow You today.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture

Matthew 28:6

NIV:

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”

KJV:

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

Devotion

The third day was not incidental—it was appointed.

In the Hebrew understanding, the “third day” carries weight beyond time. It is often the moment of divine intervention, restoration, and fulfillment. From Abraham lifting his eyes on the third day (Genesis 22), to Jonah emerging after three days (Jonah 1:17), the pattern reveals a God who brings life out of what appears finished.

The Hebrew concept tied to this is שְׁלִישִׁי (shelishi)—third—a marker not just of sequence, but of completion and revelation. When Christ rose on the third day, it was not only victory over death—it was the unveiling of God’s fulfilled promise.

The tomb was empty, but the story was not over. What followed was just as critical.

For 40 days, Jesus walked among His disciples (Acts 1:3), teaching, restoring, and commissioning. In Hebrew thought, the number 40 represents testing, preparation, and transformation—seen in Moses on Sinai, Israel in the wilderness, and now the disciples in formation.

These 40 days were not passive appearances—they were intentional discipleship.

Fear became boldness. Confusion became clarity. Followers became witnesses.

The resurrection proved who Christ is. But the 40 days produced who the disciples would become.

This is the pattern still!

Resurrection is not only something to believe—it is something to live from. The same power that raised Christ now calls us into transformation, into obedience, into active discipleship.

The empty tomb declares victory. The 40 days demand response.

Pause & Reflect

Do I live as though Christ is truly risen?

Where is God calling me from belief into action today?

Am I still standing at the empty tomb, or walking in discipleship?

Closing Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for the power of the resurrection. Let it not remain a truth I acknowledge, but a reality I live. Form in me the same transformation You worked in the disciples during those 40 days. Lead me from understanding into obedience, from belief into action. Let this day reflect that You are alive.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
